The HPEA/LPA2 is the second generation liquid-phase adapter for the Handy PEA chlorophyll fluorescence measuring system. It has been designed to simply connect to the Handy PEA control unit as a direct replacement for the standard sensor head. It provides measurements of the fast fluorescence kinetics from samples such as suspensions of chloroplasts or algae and any other photosynthetically active suspension. The curves are recorded by the Handy PEA control unit at acquisition rates of up to 100kHz. The key fluorescence parameters measured are displayed on the LCD display of the Handy PEA control unit before being saved to memory. Recorded traces may then transferred to the PEA Plus software for further analysis.

The Pocket PEA has been designed specifically as a tool enabling both academic and commercial bodies alike to record key fluorescence data from samples. Fluorescence data is beautifully presented by custom Windows software allowing differentiation between fluorescence signatures and key parameters to be easily demonstrated using various graphical and numerical data presentation methods.

The FMS 2 is a lightweight, field portable fluorescence instrument which uses the pulse-modulated principle to monitor chlorophyll fluorescence. It is therefore suitable for non-intrusive sampling from tissue operating under natural light or working in conjunction with other techniques such as infra-red gas analysis (IRGA).



At the heart of the system is the field-rugged FMS2 control unit; this is a (18 x 10 x 10 cm) housing which is light enough (2.0 Kg) to be carried and operated from its shoulder bag. It contains the integral light sources and temperature compensated electronics needed for fluorescence measurement.
